OCR: File transfers menu help Bits & Bytes The file menu is selected by entering the word File or just the letter F from another menu, if you already are in the file menu, there is not possible to use this command. In the file part of an area all files which are available for download are stored, here you can download, upload and manipulate files. You can send a file to the BBS by using the Upload command (short: Up) When uploading a file you will first be asked about a filename, the filename can be any name accepted by MS-DOS. When the system accepts your choice of filename you are asked to enter a description of the file you are going to upload, please enter something sensible there. After this last question, the system tells you to start sending your file, so start the filetransferprotcol in your communication program. When you want to send a file from the BBS, you should use the Download command, but first you will have to know the exact filename, to find out that, you can view the file-directories by entering List or you can search with the Wild or Keyword commands, the first one searches for filenames and the last one for keywords in the description line. Other commands are the View command which view the contents of an archive, or the version and size of a GIF picture. The New command searches through all the directories after new files since last time you ran new.
